In the Neighborhood

Sara and her husband, Robert, have lived in Eugene their entire lives—and while they’ve seen the city grow and change over the years, they appreciate everything that makes it a special place. “We love the outdoor spaces,” says Sara, “and taking our boys—Oliver and Austin—to enjoy all the outdoor activities close by.”

With two energetic elementary-schoolers at home, having trash and recycling service they can rely on is important to the family. “Every place we’ve lived—three houses in the last 12 years—we’ve used Apex. We’ve pretty much always been Apex customers!” Sara says. “It’s great that we actually have a choice in Eugene, and we chose Apex first because they’re locally owned.”

Over the years, Sara says, the thing that confirmed they made the right choice has been great customer service. “They do a great job. There were just a couple times our yard debris bin wasn’t completely emptied—and they came right back and took care of it when I called.” Sara also appreciates the friendly, helpful folks in the office whenever she has a question about special needs—like recycling large pieces of cardboard or disposing of oversized items.

“I try to spread the word about Apex to other people,” says Sara. When her parents were having problems getting help from their hauler, Sara brought them into the Apex fold. “You want to be able to call someone and have them answer the phone—and I can always get whatever help I need from Apex.”

Sara also appreciates having a hauler who cares about keeping the community clean and sustainable for her and her family. “They always do a good job of putting carts against the curb, making sure there’s no mess, and making things look nice.” And she appreciates the change to include food scraps in the yard waste—“The trash doesn’t get filled up with food scraps, and it’s nice to feel like I’m making a difference by composting.”

All of us here at Apex live and work right here in Eugene—and nothing makes us happier than making sure our neighbors are thriving. We’re so grateful to serve Sara and her family!
