What is household hazardous waste and how do I dispose of it?

For safety's sake, we can't dispose of hazardous household waste, including gasoline, oil/gas mixtures, liquid paint, petroleum products, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, and thinners. Please never place these items into your trash or recycling containers. Instead, call Lane County Waste Management at 541-682-4120 for information on how to dispose of these items through the Household Hazardous Waste program.

Should I bag my recyclables?

Nope toss those clean recyclables straight into the cart. Bags are a no-no because they gum up the works at the recycling facility.

Do you recycle styrofoam?

It's a bummer, but no block styrofoam, the kind that protects fragile goods and electronics, cannot be recycled. If you have the space, hang onto it for next time you need to mail a breakable birthday present.

Any chance you have an automatic payment plan?

You bet! Take one thing off your to-do list by setting up autopay right here. Grab your latest statement so you have your account code handy (let us know if you need help finding it). Your payment will be processed between the 7th and 11th each month you have a bill due.

I'm headed on vacation, can I get a credit since I won't need service?

Who wants to think about trash pickups while sipping a pina colada? If you'll be away for two or more consecutive weeks, call us up before you go (at least 24 hours in advance, please!) and we'll issue you a credit.

We're excited to be a part of the Love Food Not Waste program! What kind of things can go in the food waste bin?

Just as the name implies - food! Toss in your peels, bones, shells, and any other food scraps. You can even add weeds, brush, tree trimmings, and other plant matter you clear away from your building.

Holiday Schedule Friday July 4th, 2025

All services for Friday, July 4th will be one day delayed with pickups happening on Saturday July 5th. Please have your carts out to the curb either the night before or by 6am on pickup day as routes may be running at a different time than normal.

Please remember – Fireworks CANNOT be placed in with recycling. Place all fireworks in a bucket of water after use and then place them in the garbage cart.
